New Book: The House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgson

My newest Obscure Classics title, The House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgson.

I’ve been really interested lately in tracing the origins of the fantasy genre. When considering the classic fantasy, we cannot overlook the works of William Hope Hodgson!

SYNOPSIS:

Two travelers happen upon a remote ruin in Western Ireland and discover a mysterious manuscript, which they read. The manuscript chronicles the strange adventures of the former occupants of the house, which happens to be a portal to another dimension and gives entrance to terrifying otherworldly creatures.

Published in 1908, The House on the Borderland helped pave the way for modern fantasy and sci-fi. William Hope Hodgson (15 November 1877 – 19 April 1918) was an English author with an expansive body of work, including essays, short stories, and novels. His work spanned several genres, including fantastic fiction, science fiction, and horror.
