HI!
I’m Haleigh DeRocher
I’m the owner and creator of Sweet Sequels. I love books – but that much is probably obvious. My other great loves are my husband (Grant, a math teacher – imagine that!) and my children (Abraham, Juniper, Elden, and Primrose). We currently reside in East Texas.
My home is filled to the brim with beautiful volumes. The stories I’ve been reading for years hold a dear place in my heart, and they are the primary inspiration for Sweet Sequels. I believe in usable, beautiful, bookish art that complements the tomes on your shelves. At Sweet Sequels you can find book blankets, pillows, art prints, books, and all the bookish decor you could possibly need for your home. As Edith Wharton said, “When there are books enough, it is best to use them as part of the decorative treatment of the walls.”
My literary illustrations are thoughtfully conceptualized, designed, and hand-painted; everything from the colors to the design aspects are inspired by the themes and mood of each individual book. I can’t think of a better way to spend my time than ruminating on the plots and characters that I love.
ABOUT
my process
My designs are 100% hand-painted from start to finish. My process begins with a piece of plain muslin fabric. Then with a mixture of textile medium, acrylic paint, india ink, and magic, my paintings are executed. I get my designs digitally printed onto fabric, shirts, etc. Almost all of the sewn items in my shop (blankets, book sleeves, etc.) are made by me in my home studio, though I do enlist the help of other small business owners for certain items, especially during my busy season. My shirts are printed by the wonderful Shanna of This Joyful Home.
Please be aware that the colors you see on your computer screen may vary slightly to what you see in person. There may also be imperfections in the designs because they are not digitally altered in any way.
ABOUT
my design
You may view all of my existing designs in the Print Shop. I occassionally will have custom listing options available in the shop – pillows, blankets, book sleeves, etc. You are able to use any of the designs in the Print Shop for a custom item.
