The Sanctus Collection: Full Reveal

The Sanctus Collection has been the work of many months, and is so close to my heart. This collection was sparked by my reading of The Hunchback of Notre Dame earlier this year, and is heavily influenced by medieval design, illuminated manuscripts, and the intrinsic beauty held within deep truths.

Sanctus in Latin means “Holy.” My children and I are currently memorizing the Sanctus prayer, which goes:

Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus,
Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt cæli et terra gloria tua.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Pleni sunt cæli et terra gloria tua.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.
Hosanna in excelsis.

which translates to:

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts:
Heaven and earth are full of thy Glory.
Glory be to thee, O Lord Most High.
Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.”

And this prayer is the crux of this collection.

Every work of art I create is in homage to the One who created me and gave me the desire and ability to paint. I hope these paintings can inspire and delight everyon who looks upon them!

I am so excited to release my first illustrated edition in a long time – The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo. I read this book earlier this year and absolutely fell in love. It is an evocative story about the meaning of love, the beauty of human connection, and the erosive effects of sin on the heart. My illustrated edition includes ten original illustrations (all included in this collection drop). All pre-ordered copies of this book will come with a FREE coordinating bookmark.

The Wood Beyond the World by William Morris,
News From Nowhere by William Morris, and
Dante Rossetti and the Pre-Raphaelite Movement by Esther Wood.

William Morris and Dante Rossetti were both influential figures in the Pre-Raphaelite Movement of art, which was greatly influenced by Medieval and Renaissance art.

The Esther Wood book is a work of classic art history chronicling the birth of the movement to its demise, and includes full color illustrations of some of the most famous paintings produced during that period.

William Morris was a famous 19th century artist whose textile designs are still popular today. Many don’t know that he also wrote fantastical tales that hearken back to the medieval period. His stories are beguiling.

Last but not least, I will also be releasing eight new bookmarks!

Most of these bookmarks feature the new artwork, but I also have a Harry Potter themed one, a fall Anne of Green Gables one, and one featuring The Dawn Treader!
