CUSTOM Book Blanket
$90.00 – $235.00
CUSTOM BLANKETS take around 8 weeks to create and ship – please plan accordingly.
This listing is for a custom blanket. You can choose both the size (baby, throw, or oversized throw) and backing (READ BELOW FOR ALL DETAILS), as well as the front design.
For the front design of the custom blanket: You may choose a pre-made design from my shop that has sold out or I don’t have the correct size in (ex. Pride and Prejudice, The Castle, Bookish Dreams, Bookish Winter, etc) OR you may select your own assortment of designs from my design gallery.
****please message me if you are hoping to order a blanket with LOTR designs, as I probably won’t be able to fulfill a custom order with LOTR at this time.
Available designs may be found in the Print Shop.
Custom blanket DOES NOT mean custom art.
AS FOR BACKING: if you have something very specific in mind (color, pattern, etc) you MUST message me so we can talk about your options. If you do not, I will select the backing in your chosen category that I think looks best with the front design.
The front of my book blankets are adorned with my uniquely designed illustrations that have been digitally printed onto fabric. The backs of these blankets are either flannel, minky, velvet, or faux fur. I sew the two pieces of fabric together with my sewing machine. It is not a quilt, so there is no inner batting layer or stitching over the top. The blankets are top-stitched around the edges to create a finished look.
The original throws and some oversized throws have a cotton top. The baby size and oversized throw size have a minky top. The color/pattern of the back fabric (flannel, minky, or faux fur) will vary with each blanket drop.
Please note: My artwork is hand-painted and has never been digitially altered – so you might see crooked lines or random specks of color. The colors may also look different on your computer screen than they look in person.
FLANNEL: This is a very lightweight backing option. Blankets with flannel backing are perfect for the summer months or if you live in a warm climate.
MINKY DOT: This is a soft, velvety fabric that is thicker than the flannel. It has dimples across the length fabric, creating a very pleasing texture. I would consider a minky blanket to be an in-between blanket – good for fall and spring, warm winter climates, or warm-blooded people who don’t want to be too bogged down by a heavy blanket.
SOLID MINKY CUDDLE: Thicker than minky dot but equally as soft and luscious, this type of backing is super snuggly. Another great transitional blanket, but a little warmer than minky dot.
FAUX FUR: This is a warm, plush fabric. I use minky fur which is velvety and soft and reminiscent of bunny fur. Fur backed blankets are my warmest blankets and are great for colder weather. I have a few types of fur that I use. What I have in stock depends on what my fabric supplier has in stock, so not everything you see on my website is necessarily available. I most often use grey fur. Please contact me before ordering if you have something more specific in mind.
CRUSHED VELVET: A soft fabric with a beautiful drape, velvet backings make for a lighter weight blanket. This fabric is not quite as soft as the minky fabrics, but is incredibly beautiful.
I recommend washing in warm or cold water on a gentle cycle in order to prevent color fading and to keep your blanket in tip top shape. Dry on low or medium heat. If wrinkly, simply throw into the dryer for a quick refresh.
My blankets come in three sizes:
Baby – 45″ by 34″, the perfect size for swaddling a baby or giving to a toddler. (Minky top)
Original Throw – 40″ by 70″, the perfect size to throw over your couch or reading chair. Also great for traveling. (cotton top)
Oversized Throw – 54″ by 70″, the perfect size for sharing. (minky top)
**For size reference: This blanket can lay flat on a queen size bed with none of the blanket edges going off the bed. It is NOT bed spread size, it is simply a large throw blanket.
***Measurements are approximate and can vary based on patterning.
